A person who is an adult can be described as a person or animal who has reached the full growth.The biological definition of the word means the animal has reached sexual maturity, which makes it capable of reproduction. Adults are considered to be a social notion as well as a legal concept within the world of humans. As opposed to "minor" or "non-adult" legally-aged adult is an individual who is a an age at which they are majority. They are regarded as to be responsible, independent and competent. Also known as "majors", they can also be thought to be at the age of majority. The age at which a child becomes an adult legally is 18, however, the definition of"legal maturity" can be different depending on the country or legal system in place, and also their psychological state.

In the lifespan of a human being, adulthood refers to the point when a person attains full mental and physical maturity. Commonly, adulthood begins around the age of 21 or 20. After middle age (starting about 40 years old), comes the age of old age (around age 60). The adulthood process is split into three phases that are: the early years of adulthood (18-mid-30s), mid-30s-mid-60s, then late adulthood from mid-60s up to end of life. When we reach early adulthood, our body has reached its full physical maturity. Yet, our size and weight may increase. As we enter our early adulthood the physical capabilities of our bodies are at their best which includes the strength of our muscles, our reaction speed, sensory abilities, and heart function.
